Pathways Forward Recovery is being developed as a potential alcohol- and drug-free recovery residence based in Gilroy, California, with the goal of serving adults referred from Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Monterey Counties. The concept is centered on safe housing, clear expectations, peer accountability, personal responsibility, and connection to community-based recovery resources.

At this stage, we are listening first. We want to understand where the housing gaps are, who is most difficult to place, what referral partners need from a recovery residence, and what would make a Gilroy-based regional option genuinely useful across the four-county area.

Intended Regional Service Area

One Gilroy location. Four counties within reach.

Gilroy sits near the meeting point of Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Monterey Counties. Pathways Forward is being evaluated as a regional recovery-housing option that could accept appropriate referrals from organizations and public agencies throughout all four counties.

The concept is intended to provide stable recovery housing for adults who may continue outpatient care, employment, education, reentry planning, probation requirements, or other recovery-supportive activities in the surrounding region.

We are seeking input from county departments, treatment providers, hospitals, probation and reentry programs, case managers, recovery organizations, and other professionals throughout all four counties who regularly encounter adults ready for recovery housing but unable to find an appropriate placement.

Concept Under Evaluation

A recovery residence — not a clinical treatment program.

The operating model is still being developed, but the current concept is a structured shared-living environment for adults committed to maintaining sobriety. Clinical treatment, detoxification, or counseling would not be provided on-site as part of the housing operation.

    Clear house expectations, routines, responsibilities, and recovery-supportive conduct.
  • Peer community
    A home environment where residents are surrounded by others working toward sustained recovery.
  • Connected, not isolated
    Residents would continue using outside treatment, medical, employment, education, probation/reentry, or recovery resources as appropriate.
